Music lover. Wife. Mother. Teacher. Naturalista. Magical Black girl. Christian (the love everyone kind, not the fire and brimstone kind) Introvert with extrovert tendencies. Most accurately, I’m an analog girl in a digital world. In real life, I am a high school English teacher in Nashville, TN. I enjoy spending time with my family, teaching, writing, dancing, and cooking all while listening to music. Music and writing are the two constants in my life. So I thought, why not join the two.
I am a native of Memphis, Tennessee, which is the home of Staxx music, the Blues, and Elvis Presley. I have lived in Nashville, also known as “Music City” for twenty years. Is there any wonder why I love music so much?
I was raised by a single mother, who used education to pull us from poverty. My mother is the driving force behind my decision to become a teacher. She also “lived her life to a soundtrack” according to my father.
Although the focus of this blog is my love of music, I have a variety of interests. I also write about life balance, spirituality, politics, education, and anything under the sun.
In 2012, I self published my first novel, Love Lifted Me, the story of a woman’s struggle to redefine herself after her son’s tragic and sudden death.
